Consul General Ramin Manawi delivered a lecture on Afghanistan at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in early April 2022. Mr. Manawi provided information on Afghanistan’s geopolitics, political history, regional dimensions of the conflict, role of the international community, and related issues. During the presentation, in addition to describing the political turmoil throughout history, he underscored that the people of Afghanistan cherish a glorious history and rich culture. He also highlighted recent events in the country, including the severe humanitarian crisis, human rights violations, insecurity, the need for a political system based on people’s will, and related matters. It was also stated that the people of Afghanistan have been through immense suffering for so long due to the conflict and regimes that did not represent their will and aspirations. At the end, policy options for a peaceful, prosperous and free Afghanistan were presented.
