Consul General Manawi meets with the Executive Director of the British Columbia Council for International Cooperation
Consul General Manawi met with Ms. Anne-Catherine Bajard, Executive Director of the British Columbia Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC) on July 6, 2021. The two sides had the opportunity to discuss the activities and programs of the BCCIC on global development goals, human rights, justice, public engagements, relationship with the civil society organizations, and cooperation of the BCCIC with the international partners on security and development. 
 
Ms. Bajard provided necessary information about the structure of BCCIC, areas of focus, and the impact they have made within Canada and around the world. In addition, Mr. Manawi provided an overview of the current situation in Afghanistan, particularly issues related to ongoing violence and the peace process. He stated that the government of  the I.R of Afghanistan has pursued the peace process and will take all necessary actions in addressing the most pressing issues in this regard. The government expects the Taliban and other groups to continue the negotiations and commit to a permanent ceasefire. He stressed the need for continued support of the international community for the current peace process and preservation of the achievements of the past decades. 
 
During the meeting, Mr. Manawi also expressed the interest of the Consulate General of Afghanistan on future events and programs of the BCCIC related to Afghanistan and the region and the possibility of organizing events related to the peace and development in Afghanistan. The two sides agreed to discuss and work together on areas of mutual interest in the near future.
